I don't think this story wound up well for ANYONE involved. The novels are given ugly covers and they're full of sticky notes, presumably showing errors in the publication.)Īnd then you've got Kate, who's stuck in the middle of a totally broken home. (Even when he gets picked up by an obscure publishing house, things aren't really looking up. From what I gathered, the mom is cheating on her husband, and the husband's writing crappy sci-fi novels with busty women and drinking away his depression when the books, unsurprisingly, don't sell. Different clues seem to point to the fact that the parents are growing distant from each other, and what you discover about their side-plots seem to cement this fact. ![]() On a side note, things aren't looking good for the parents either. Even though the game ended on a "hopeful" note (literally, with the cheerful music), looking at it realistically, I can't see ANYTHING going well for either family. They have no idea where they're going and neither of them even made it into college. They're not gonna just get off the hook like that. ![]() They stole from their parents and ran away-one of them from the MILITARY, which IIRC is a crime?-and we're supposed to assume everything's gonna be A-OK for them? Like their parents won't call for the police to track them down and look for the car model/color and license plate number? I dunno, I guess looking at this from the perspective of a 20-something-year-old who never had a rebellious teen phase, I found things way less hopeful for the two girls.
